Sirinumu Dam

Port Moresby

The landscape south of Sogeri is dominated by Lake Sirinumu, a huge water reservoir created by the damming of the Upper Laloki River in 1963 and flooding the surrounding land. Water from the reservoir is piped down Rouna Gorge to run a hydro-electric plant and also to supply town water for Port Moresby city. Activities at the lake include boating, fishing, water sports, bird watching and hiking.
