Cross Island Trek (Te Rua Manga) 413m Moderate - Hard | 6km trek across the middle of the island The Cross Island Trek is not for the faint hearted but is every bit as rewarding as it is beautiful. The 3 - 4 hour hike boasts amazing views, streams, a step incline and if you're lucky you'll find the infamous hiking roster who likes to accompany tourists part way. The track starts inland from the main township of Avarua and ends at Wigmores Waterfall. Make sure to wear comfy hiking shoes, have plenty of water, a snack, sunscreen and mosquito repellent as mosquitoes are aplenty in the mountain areas. Please note if you are not familiar with the track, it is encouraged that you join a guided tour as markers are not always visible.
