A visit to The Punanga Nui Market is a must-do for visitors to the island! Located on the waterfront in the main township of Avarua, the market is open throughout the week with vendors selling a variety of products including local seasonal fruits & vegetables. The Saturday market is very popular for both tourists and locals. This is the busiest day for the market with more vendors setting up shop to sell everything from ready to eat meals, arts & crafts, handmade items, locally made clothing, seasonal fruits & vegetables, jewellery, desserts and you can even book your activities for the week ahead! A day not to be missed if not for the food and produce, then definitely for the cultural show that usually starts at 10am under the main hut.
